Blessing of the Backpacks

HAVE YOU INVITED SOMEONE YET?  We are counting down to our Blessing of the Backpacks Back to School Bash on August 10 at 10 a.m.  Be sure and save the date as this will be an all hands on deck outreach event offered to the whole community.  Please plan to attend (you don't have to have children to help out) and please see Vicar Dawn to volunteer!

August 18 - Baptism, Farewell to Vicar Dawn and our Monthly Fellowship Meal

August 18 will be a special Sunday as we will be showing our appreciation to Vicar Dawn for her year of service in the life of our church as well as baptizing three children.  Our monthly fellowship meal will be on Sunday, August 18 of this month as well.  Please plan to bring your favorite dish as we gather together after worship for food, fun and fellowship.

Council Meeting this Sunday, August 11

If you are on Council, please plan to be with us for our monthly meeting this coming Sunday after worship as we do the good work of the church.  Please come prepared to focus on calendaring for the next 9 months.

Shrink! Summer Reading Assingmnet

We want to recommend a book for reading this summer in preparation for some continued conversations about what small churches do well and how we can play our part in the kingdom of God in East Nashville.  The book is entitled Shrink: Faithful Ministry in a Church-Growth Culture.  I have linked it to the Amazon page but you can get it from all the major booksellers.  While it is aimed at pastors, I think it promotes a healthy view of why small churches are crucial to the work of God in the world and is an excellent challenge to us to be all we can be when it comes to doing ministry regardless of our size.  Join in the reading and we look forward to our conversations together!

Children's Choir

Rehearsals are at 1:30 p.m. on each Sunday afternoon except the Sundays when they lead in worship.  If you have interested children or know of any in the neighborhood, please encourage them to come and join in the fun!  Please contact Lauren for the official rehearsal schedule each month as the calendar is subject to change.
