TALK - URBAN DRAGONFLIES OF MALAYSIA, Online, Saturday 24th April 5pm

Like acrobats in the sky, dragonflies are dazzling to watch. They fly at ridiculous speeds, sometimes upside down. They make sharp 360° turns, and then hover in place, and even fly backwards! Damselflies and dragonflies depend on clean freshwater bodies for their life cycle, so their presence has become synonymous with healthy ecosystems. Dr Choong Chee Yen, lecturer at UKM and a leading expert on the dragonflies and damselflies of Malaysia, will tell you all about them. Free of charge on Youtube here.

A 1975 American thriller film directed by Steven Spielberg in which a man-eating great white shark attacks beachgoers at a summer resort town, prompting police chief Martin Brody to hunt it with the help of a marine biologist and a professional shark hunter.
Jaws was the prototypical summer blockbuster, regarded as a watershed moment in motion picture history, and it won several awards for its music and editing. It was the highest-grossing film until the release of Star Wars in 1977.

A monodrama written by Yusof Bakar and performed by
Wazir Bakri. Malim was chased by some angry witnesses after he caused an injury to a woman when he snatched her handbag. In hiding, he regrets his actions and re-lives the reasons why he acted in such a way and the consequences.

A monodrama written by Yusof Bakar and performed by

WORKSHOP - JOURNALING THROUGH MOVEMENT - Online and Tropical Spice Gardens, Teluk Bahang, Sunday 25th April 10am-11.30am

Weave words to life with Mislina Mustaffa and Aida Redza on this 2-day online workshop of writing and movement - this time, featuring live music. Trace the language of the body to bring more depth and life into your daily writings and thoughts.

This group class will start with movement to get everyone into a creative state, followed by a writing session led by Mislina. Finally, we will use somatic movement ideas to weave our words together into a simple choreography.

COOKING WORKSHOP - LIVE FROM TROPICAL SPICE GARDENS, Online, Sunday 25th April 11am

Well-known for her easy-to-make and yummy vegetarian recipes, Chef Lze Huei is back in the Garden’s jungle kitchen. In this interactive, virtual class, you’ll learn how to make Healthy Vege & Mushroom Dumplings & Samosas. We’ll send the recipe early so you can prepare to cook along if desired.

A 1990 Hong Kong drama film directed by Wong Kar-wai. The film stars some of the best-known actors and actresses in Hong Kong, including Leslie Cheung, Andy Lau, Maggie Cheung, Carina Lau, Jacky Cheung and Tony Leung Chiu-wai. The movie forms the first part of an informal trilogy, together with In the Mood for Love (released in 2000) and 2046 (released in 2004)

CHARITY - A RIDE OF HOPE, George Town, Saturdays 22nd May- 27th June 9am-12pm

Organised by Penangnites for Penangnites to raise funds for  the trishaw peddlers in Armenian Street, Prangin Mall and Penang Road.  RM 50 for an hour's ride around the Heritage trial in Georgetown. The trishaw peddlers are among the worst hit and least supported during the pandemic. Ride of Hope plans to get them at least RM00 per month from May to Aug 2021.
