Every day this week I'll be bringing you ideas for creating fun summer memories. Each day's activities can span a wide range of ages and are divided into morning, afternoon, and evening, sections. Spend as much or as little time on each as you want. Some activities will require no oversight, and some are designed for full family participation, but all are meant to be easy and low stess- so have fun!  

Get ready for summer camp!

With many summer camps cancelled, there's no reason your family can't still enjoy some traditional camp activities. Scroll down for one weeks worth of camp themed fun!

Monday

  • Morning- Walk around your yard or neighborhood and identify local plants and animals to help create a unique camp name, Make a camp flag to identify your camp with an old sheet or large piece of packing paper.
  • Afternoon - Start working on camp merit badges and sash with either paper or: fabric. Pick badges to work on this week: saint knowledge, plants, craft king/queen, animal expert, insect inspector, nature study natural, camp fire star, etc.
  • Evening - Set up a tent in your yard. Learn about the constellations. 

Tuesday

  • Morning - Learn about St. John the Baptist- the original outdoorsman! Play with water in honor of the sacrament of baptism.
  • Afternoon - Build an outdoor shelter (or pillow fort inside),  with sticks and branches or sheets on a clothesline,. 
  • Evening - Plan a dinner that features honey (and locust if you're really adventurous!) or strawberries. Make a bonfire and eat s'mores.

Friday - Campfire Celebration

  • Throughout the day prepare for the family campfire celebration. Rehearse skits and songs, clear campfire area, and create and area to display completed arts and crafts. Plan a schedule of skits, songs, food, and merit badge presentation. Bonus cocktail!
