I have this vague memory from my childhood living in rural Pennsylvania: being awestruck to see for the first time, pure, drinkable water trickling out of the rocky mountainside near my home. Finding this spring through a friend gave me a similar feeling of joy. I was further impressed by the history the water had to tell.
As far back as the 1830s, clear cool spring water attracted travelers the historic Cold Springs site. Here, after a hard days journey with wagons and horses, weary travelers rested for the night while they watered their horses and let them drink from the cool spring.
