Hi ,
Iām going through the 5 stages of grief right now. And itās all work-related.
It might seem weird to talk about whatās going on at work through the lens of grief, but since it sounds like itās happening in most corporate organisations these days, letās talk about it.
Layoffs. Re-organisation. Redundancies.
Call it what you want but essentially the mass exodus of people from a place you spend most of your waking days at.
Itās hard for everyone at every level: whether youāre the one being let go, the person letting someone go, your line manager, direct reports, work colleagues.
Everything from āwhy meā if it was you, to survivorās guilt if it wasnāt you, to āwhat nextā for everyone in every position navigating the fallout.
The 5 Stages of Grief: Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Depressionā¦ I havenāt quite reached Acceptance yet. Writing this email is probably part of my processing it all.
Yes, I still have my job. But Iāve lost so many close and dear work friends - some Iāve had to be in the awful position of having to let go.
