Reinstate the Turkish Medical Association's Central Council immediately
On 30 November, a civil court in Ankara arbitrarily dismissed 11 eminent Turkish physicians from their elected positions on the Central Council of the Turkish Medical Association (TMA), the country’s largest professional medical group This is a flagrant violation of international human rights law and ethical standards, said a global coalition of medical professional organizations, including the WMA. Public Consultation on a draft revised version of the Declaration of Helsinki
As part of the current revision process of the Declaration of Helsinki, and in order to maximise input by all stakeholders and the public, there will be two separate opportunities for public comments. Phase 1 is being held now to address issues from the first few regional meetings. The phase 2 comment period will follow in the spring when additional topics have been addressed.

WMA Webinar during the Antimicrobial Resistant Awareness Week (AMR)
This webinar focussed on engaging healthcare professionals and civil society towards the AMR High-Level meeting in 2024. WHO’s Executive Board adopts resolution on access for life-saving aid into Gaza and respect for laws of war
In a special session held on 10 December in Geneva, WHO’s Executive Board adopted a resolution
aimed at addressing the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

New WHO campaign highlights tobacco industry tactics to influence public health policies
This "Stop the lies" campaign
aims to protect young people from the tobacco industry and their deadly
products, by calling for an end to tobacco industry interference in
health policy.

Health Organisations: COP28 “Signals” Alone From World Leaders Will Not Protect People’s Health
At the closing of the COP28 in Dubai, health groups denounced the summit’s failure to commit to a full phase out of fossil fuels, a critically urgent step towards protecting people’s health, and criticised the failure to commit to strong targets for adaptation to build resilient systems capable of protecting vulnerable people.
