The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) has been alerted to an entity falsely claiming to represent the UKMTO and requesting vessels to activate their Automatic Identification System (AIS) and provide their current position.

The UKMTO has advised Masters to verify any communications purporting to be from the UKMTO using the contact information provided in BMP5 or on Maritime Security Chart Q6099.

All vessels in the area are advised to proceed with caution and to report any suspicious activities to the UKMTO.
