In order to achieve the Paris Agreement’s objectives, a fundamental transformation of the global plastics industry is required. A recent NDC aspects policy brief outlines four complementary strategies that will be necessary to achieve climate neutrality in the sector and the existing global governance landscape for plastic. Additionally, it examines the creation of an international plastics climate club that could foster climate neutrality in the sector and its relationship with the ongoing negotiations for the plastic pollution treaty.
