Dear PRAR Member,

PRAR Board and Staff hope you are all staying safe and healthy.  The COVID numbers across the state are on the rise as the economy is reopening and the summer activities are on the rise.  

Yesterday, two South Carolina cities, Columbia and Greenville were the first to pass City ordinances requiring the use of facemasks in public. Expectations are more cities to follow suit in the coming weeks. State Department of Education also announced this week if COVID cases across state did not start to decrease, students would not be able to return to school in the fall.

We encourage all REALTORS to lead by example, when possible, to wear facemasks in public, social distance and follow CDC guidelines.

    • PeeDee Association of REALTORS has been servicing Chesterfield County and also applying for Juridiction.  PRAR decided to drop the challenge of Jurisdiction and focus on our Tri-County area. 
    • PRAR Office space is currently under construction and finally making the move to reduce our Lease space to save dollars in rent. 
    • 2020 Member Survey coming soon (more to follow)
    • 2021 PRAR Elections Held in September (more to follow)

    • Our office was offline for a week unexpectedly. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. If you tried to reach out and have not heard back from us, please reach out again, we should have all communication lines back up and running.  We did try to reach out to everyone during the outage and service in alternate ways. However, if we missed you, please know it was not intentional and reach out to us again so we can assist.

What you need to Know
Do You Need to Renew your License June 2020?

All REALTORS must take the class 3 Ps of Professionalism. This is the Core Class for the June 2020 renewal with 4 hours of CE.  

Salesperson Licensees must obtain 6 more hours of elective CE credits. 

Broker Licensees must take the BIC Duties and Responsibilities Core Class worth 4 hours of CE credit.  They must then obtain 2 additional hours of elective CE credit. 

In total all REALTORS must have 10 hours of CE credit. 

You can track your CE credits through 'CE Broker' which is where you will renew your License for SC LLR.  

SC LLR has extended the DEADLINE until September 30, 2020 for this year only due to Coronavirus.  

NOTE: Ethics is not required for your SC LLR License renewal.  This is a NAR Requirement not due until December of 2021.

In the coming weeks you will receive a Member Survey from PRAR.  We need your feedback to offer you the services you want.  We ask that you please participate.

In addition, to give you a little information on two questions:

1.  SCR Board of Directors voted earlier this year to Recommend all Local Associations in South Carolina adopt a new Membership Provision requiring all members take 6 additional Hours of Professional Development Education every License Renewal Cycle. Per NAR Bylaws this would have to pertain to Potential or Critical Liability for the Agent, in which the Association could offer though Lunch and Learns.  Depending on how the Survey Response is received, the PRAR Board will write a Policy to be clearly defined.

2. PRAR Board has been looking at Safety APPS to help our Agents in the field.  Unfortunately, the cost is not affordable for the Association. However, we can get them a greatly reduced price far beyond what you, the member could get alone.  Below are some links to two different APPS.  Please review so when the Survey comes around, you can answer if this is something you would pay additional for in your Membership Dues.

        Price-Based Approach Replaces CFPB's Debt-to-Income Limit

        Low interest rates and inventory will draw buyers to the market, Lennar Corp.’s executive chairman, Stuart Miller, said on a conference call with industry analysts this week. The home builder, one of the largest in the country, said it was working on new ways for buyers to purchase new homes virtually, such as by leveraging its digital programs and offering drive-through closings. Such closings enable home buyers to sign documents from their car.

        Amidst Health, Safety Concerns, NAR’s 2020 REALTORS® Conference & Expo Goes Virtual

        CHICAGO (June 24, 2020) — The National Association of Realtors® announced Wednesday that the 2020 REALTORS® Conference & Expo, previously scheduled from November 13-16 in New Orleans, will be transitioned to a fully virtual format in light of ongoing health and safety concerns stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic.
