Public Review Now Open: Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace Standard

The draft for the national Psychological Health and Safety in the Workplace standards is now available for public review. This national standard outlines a structured, practical approach to preventing psychological harm, promoting well-being, and creating supportive workplace cultures. Psychological Health and Safety matters because mental health challenges affect one in five Canadians each year, with significant impacts on individuals, productivity and organizational performance. By participating in the review, you can ensure the national standard remains relevant, inclusive, and represents New Brunswick’s workplace realities.

WorkSafeNB teams up with Wounded Warriors Canada

WorkSafeNB is proud to announce a new collaboration with Wounded Warriors Canada, a national leader in trauma-informed mental health services.

Wounded Warriors Canada is a national mental health service provider specializing in providing culturally informed services that utilize a combination of education, counselling and training to support resiliency and recovery from post-trauma injuries.

This marks the first strategic alliance between a Canadian Workers’ Compensation Board and Wounded Warriors Canada, highlighting WorkSafeNB’s commitment to protecting both the physical and psychological health of New Brunswick workers.

Question

Specific protective footwear and headwear is required on project sites. How can employers and workers determine when a workplace is deemed a project site?

New Resource: Building Construction Prevention Strategy

This building construction safety resource will help:

• Educate employers and employees on common regulations that apply to a typical project site.
• Communicate the focus of our building construction strategy so that employers and employees can plan appropriately and take action before starting a project.

In the courts

WorkSafeNB's health and safety officers and occupational hygienists are given legislative authority to write orders under the OHS Act, to improve safety and prevent workplace injuries in New Brunswick.

When these orders are not complied with, or when an incident has taken place as a result of a violation of the Act and/or its regulations, WorkSafeNB may recommend charges to the Department of Justice.
