Well the Glasto alfresco dining fiasco has been a busted flush up and down the country this bank holiday weekend. Not helped here by yet another Covid Cop inspection advising me on how I should run my restaurant by their rules so that I can look after my customers and my staff! 

'We’re just trying to do our job' they said. So are we, I retorted, and if you had any idea what we as individuals and as a business have been put through for well over a year you would better understand us. 

So over the next two weeks when the weather is appealing we will still have plenty of tables, blankets and a limited number of heaters for pleasant al fresco dining from our à la carte and 'free-from' menus . Should the weather turn, rest assured we’ll still look after you and keep you sensibly safe.

Meanwhile thank you for your understanding on us trying to limit the numbers to a maximum of 4 people at peak times whilst we got back open, albeit at just 20% of our usual seating capacity.

From 17th May when we reopen for indoor dining and there is still availability we’ll extend that to a maximum of 6 people per booking at peak times. Additionally we’re now open all day Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to help spread the demand whilst keeping the restaurant looking and feeling safe.

Successful neighbourhood restaurants are about social interaction rather than social distancing. So many lessons learnt over the last year but, above all, that if you stick with your convictions and standards whilst applying good common sense, you’ll emerge fitter and stronger.

There is huge optimism abound at Bartellas among customers and staff alike. We greatly look forward to welcoming you back to our world in Meopham.
