The principal’s office is here to give a thumbs-up to the teachers, students, and parents who attended class last week. Congratulations to all of you for completing the first class in an atypical setting. There were surprises, but we conquer it. We will continue to work hard, the future will become more and more exciting. If you have any comments, please feel free to contact us.
ECS operates solely by parents volunteers and we are still in need of a volunteer to fill the positions of Fundraising. Please contact Publications or current board members if interested. List of responsibility with benefits of tuition waiver for one child (Board 100% waived, Staff 50% waived).
Pinyin and Kindergarten class materials were sponsored by Taiwan's Overseas Community Affairs Council. It was shipped from Taiwan and is currently in New York. Instructors will contact parents once materials have been received.
Academics office hours are Sundays 2pm to 4pm. Parents can access Academics through Zoom.

Recruitment of ECS school team (students must have been studying for more than three consecutive years in ECS)
Chinese Typing: Zhuyin class above 6th grade and current teaching assistant
Calligraphy: students in Zhuyin and Pinyin classes above 1st grade
Chinese Character Recognition: Zhuyin classes above 3rd grade
Washington Metropolitan Association of Chinese Schools Glorious October Culture Competition 10/10(Sat) 12:45-14:30 NEW
Competition will be divided between Elementary, Middle, and High school. The top 3 contestants in each group will receive $200/$150/$100 reward. Contestants will answer culture related questions through Kahoot. Please submit your intent by 9/19 at ECS school team page. There will be a practice session this Sunday at 13:00.
In the following ECS distance learning decision for 2020-2021 Fall semester, we are currently exploring possibly providing Yoga and Tai Chi extracurricular classes in a virtual format. Additionally, we are working to process any refunds and donations for classes that were cancelled in Spring 2020. A new survey with 3 simple questions will be sent next week. Your participation in this survey will assist us in understanding how to best serve our ECS families. Please contact Activity Department for questions.
With an all virtual semester, the need to connect our families and children to ECS while sharing our Chinese culture has never been greater! Join the new Fundraising Committee as we look to create virtual opportunities to help ECS bridge this challenging time. Considering there are fewer options to earn service points, participation in the Fundraising Committee will qualify for your service points for the semester. Our first effort will be on hosting a silent auction which will be very Chinese and very fun! All ideas and efforts welcome!
The registration deadline has passed, and the families who wish to withdraw their children from the respective classes are required to fill out a withdrawal form and send the filled form to the Registrar to obtain a refund. 75% tuition will be refunded for withdrawals made within the first 4 classes of the current school year. None after the 4th class of the current school year.
