We all want our businesses to be more visible.
If you have a bit of spare time, here's three things you can do that will quickly make an impact on your position in search engine rankings.
1. Set up Google Search Console - this will help you monitor your site's performance, see what keywords are driving people to your site already, and help you get seen more quickly. It links up with Analytics if you want it to, and you will get alerts if Google spots any technical issues with your site that you need to know about. If Google's alerting you, they will affect how you appear on search engine results pages, so you want to fix the issue and then let Google know you did it - it walks you through all this.
2. Submit your sitemap to Search Console. If your site's not being indexed, it won't appear on search engine results pages. This can happen anyway over time, but you can speed this up. If you already have the Yoast plugin on your website, it's produced automatically and you'll find it at https://www.example.com/sitema... - so sitemap_index.xml is the part of the URL you need to put into Search Console.
