Dear Church Family,
As you know, Pennsylvania state authorities have issued a state-wide policy on wearing masks in public spaces. As of today, we are continuing with our regularly scheduled worship gatherings, working to stay in compliance with all CDC health and safety guidelines by emphasizing clean facilities, recommending social distancing, and suggesting mask-wearing while on the premises.
We encourage everyone to be wise and safe. If you would feel more comfortable wearing a mask while worshiping, we will have masks provided for you. However, masks are not required for entry. If you do not have a mask, you will not be turned away. Let us not make “mask-wearing” a matter of division and strife.
“Now may the God who gives endurance and encouragement grant you to live in harmony with one another, according to Christ Jesus, so that you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ with one mind and one voice.”(Rom. 15:5–6)
I know that this is a confusing time in a lot of different ways. There is news story after news story after news story that seemingly offers nothing in the way of hope. But that’s why this is such a great opportunity for the church — for Stonington, especially — to emphasize and proclaim and shout from the rooftops that our Hope persists, even when it appears hopeless. Because our Hope is a Person, who rose from the dead and is alive right now, ruling right now, orchestrating all things according to his purposes.
Stay safe. Stay hopeful. The Lord is on the move!
Much love and prayer!
