The City of Tumwater and Port of Olympia invites you to join a community workshop scheduled for 5:30 p.m., Thursday, August 5, 2021. This workshop will be held remotely.
There will be a 20-30 minute presentation by City and Port staff on a development agreement in the New Market Industrial Campus, City land-use, and the permit review process. At the Workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to view conceptual sketches of the proposed development and ask questions.
The Port of Olympia has entered into a lease option agreement with Panattoni Development, a commercial real estate company, to develop 200 acres of Port property and approximately 2.5 million square feet of commercial/industrial space over several years.
At this time, the developer has not initiated the review process for site development or building permits, and future tenants or specific end-users have not been identified. The development and land use types proposed in the lease option are allowed under current City regulations and plans.
Some local residents expressed concerns about the proposed development. In response to those concerns, the Port and City agreed to negotiate a development agreement and enter into an interlocal agreement to address concerns jointly. The two jurisdictions are working together on an agreement but have not presented a draft agreement for consideration.
This is an opportunity for community members to pose questions to City and Port staff about the proposed development, City zoning, land use, and the permit review process.
Port Commissioners and Tumwater City Council will consider adopting a Development Agreement at future public meetings.
-Disclaimer-
One or more individual Port Commissioner may attend this community workshop as an audience member/observant. The presence of one or more Commissioner in this individual capacity does not constitute either a special or joint meeting of the Port Commission and the City of Tumwater Council or require noticing it as such.
If the Port Commission as a board intends to meet jointly with the City of Tumwater Council, public notice of that joint, special meeting will be issued with a published agenda.
