One common question I am asked is, "Why are you running"? Typically, this is the first question after sharing my experience as a leader of small and large companies.
My best response? "There was an IQ test, and I failed." A political outsider trading the rewards of the business world for the torment of running for office is not what the MBA classes teach. There must be something else.
There are many successful business leaders in North Carolina, and a good number of them are Christians. Few run for office. The costs are too high. Not only the economic costs but even worse is the cost of "putting yourself out there."
Why run? Our country needs more outsiders and Christian business leaders in government. How can I encourage others to step out if I will not?
Authentic leaders speak through their actions. They are focused on the greater good and put the needs of others first. A true leader eats last.
Well-molded character traits and skills are the foundation for good leaders. My parents instilled in me biblical character traits that reveal themselves through tests. The Creator of the universe carefully developed my skills. Both are a gift given for a purpose. When He whispers in your ear, you have a choice. This is mine.
