Our mission at Six Strings Acoustic is to help enrich the lives of Arizona’s Special Needs Children by bringing live music to those that normally wouldn’t have the chance to experience it…but greatly deserve to.

WE GOT A BIG ONE

During the month of May, for every pint of Barrio Brewing, “Hipsterville” beer sold at one of the Genuine Concepts establishments $2.00 was donated to the Six Strings Acoustic Children’s Program.  A total of $3,804.00 was raised.

They thought it only right to do the presentation where the action is, with the kids.  So the teachers at Coronado High School graciously allowed us a few minutes with some of the summer school students for the BIG check presentation. Thanks to everyone for making this happen and thanks to all of you beer drinking supporters.  Here’s to beer!!!

WHAT’S SUMMER SCHOOL WITHOUT A LITTLE MUSIC?

During the Summer Session schools in the Scottsdale Unified School District combine their Special Needs students in one or two locations.  This Summer’s classes were at Coronado High School and we were there playing music and keeping things chill.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOUR BOARD

We know…it’s a play on words and a way to segue into our announcement of two new Six Strings Board members.  Mark McDowell and Ted Brown joined our organization in May and we are thrilled to have them.  Mark and Ted are both singer songwriters for the popular band, The Dusty Ramblers.  Mark is also an artist, based in Scottsdale. His drawings, paintings and fine art book publications are in major collections worldwide.  When he’s not writing music, Ted deals real estate in the Valley.

BIG STUFF COMING

The 2019-2020 school year is gearing to be our best ever because of something really cool that happened in August.  We will tell you all about it in our September newsletter.

In the meantime we are going to take a little break in August to let the teachers get their classes up and running and settled in.  We will jump back in the middle of September.
