Hate Speech

Asaval-Dasavali, 28 November - 4 December

Elizbar Janelidze, People’s Assembly: „Since the Nationals [UNM] did not have their heads smashed when they were young snakes, they have grown into large snakes!... And these Nationals should avoid angering Georgians so much that the same things happens here as in the Parliament of Armenia, when patriot Armenians ran into the parliament hall with assault rifles and shot certain people!“

Kavkasia, Spektri, 11 November

David Akubardia, anchor: „They say that someone cut down a tree on their fenced territory and they beat them up (about an incident in Zvare, where Chinese nationals are accused of beating Georgian nationals. In China, or, more exactly, in Korea, they used to cut off thief’s arm, so if they have such wild customs, let’s teach them our law.“

Obiektivi, Night Studio, 12 November

Gia Areshidze, anchor: „Let citizens of Georgia be called Georgians. If they don’t want this, let them go away, whether they are Turks, or Russians, or Abkhazs, or Chinese, or anyone else.“

Alia, 7-13 November

Malkhaz Dzidziguri, author: „My Georgians, my blood and flesh, don’t buy anything from the narrow-eyed, even matches! Only such action can protect us from them increasingly entering our beautiful country and push them away! Whoever does not comply to this call – let their eyes become just as narrow! Let them acquire their color! Let them always eat dog’s meat, like them! Let them have just as short name and surname! Let them always be in emigration! Let them have the same way of life! Let them have the same future! Amen!“

Maestro, Line of Fire, 8 November

Dimitri Lortkipanidze, Democratic Movement – United Georgia: „Chinese industrialist is not Georgian citizen, he must have some limits and obligations, including towards those employees who should be prioritized in the Labor Code.“

Obiektivi, Night Studio, 20 November

Giorgi Lomia, Patriots’ Alliance: "What happened on Aghmashenebeli Street, when there was a clash between Georgians, Turks and Arabs, but then somehow it so happened that Turks and Arabs beat up Georgians, the police was just watching, then arrested the Georgians and it can be seen in the video how they tell one Georgian: Don’t go there, they are very angry at Georgians, that’s what police officer is telling a Georgian... Georgian citizens should be prioritized, in business and all other activities. ... Georgia is not helping Georgians, that is why we are always in the role of servants, or just unemployed."

Alia 7-13 November

Nikoloz Burnadze, Georgian Power: „Don’t you have any manhood left? How did you let the rice-slaves [the Chinese] beat you up? Soon we’ll put up the date of visit to Zvare. Stop eating each other, and do what you ought to, everyone!“

Asaval-Dasavali, 7-13 November

Gia Kruashvili, Free Georgia: „If it goes like this, soon head of local administration and police chief will be the Chinese!.. There are no dogs left in Kharagauli – Chinese are killing and eating them!.. In Kharagauli villages mothers are not letting their daughters to go to school alone and accompany them because of the Chinese!.. Several years ago, in one Kharagauli village which I shall not name, a Chinese raped 11-year old girl!"

Rezonansi, 3 November

Elena Kartozia, respondent: „I am much irritated by the attitude of Gypsies and Kurds. They don’t know Georgian language and don’t follow even the basic norms of behavior in public, which, probably, is due to the lack of education. I am really not a person of fascist views, but if someone wants to live in our country, whether it’s a Kurds, Gipsy, Armenian or anyone else, they should learn Georgian language and respect our culture.“

Obiektivi, Night Studio, 7 November

Nino Ratishvili, journalist: "If Georgians killed a Turkish woman and sent her dead to Istanbul, you can imagine that we would get notes from there. You know why? But everyone sees how Georgia as a state does not care about its citizens.", 17 November

Eka Naskidashvili, journalist: “An imam named Gerger, a man who has been teaching school children free sexual relationships for years, is in Georgia now. Specifically, he is the principal of the new Turkish school in Batumi. This man creates groups of 30 children and discusses free relationships, mostly of sexual character… In two years he had to change jobs several times, but finally the Turkish ministry of education decided to send him to Adjara. He came to Georgia on 9 July 2016 and now teaches the Muslim children who live in Batumi.“

Obiektivi, Night Studio, 16 November

Vazha Otarashvili, Patriots’ Alliance: "Our future generation is turning into slaves before our eyes. This generation won’t perceive Georgia, the Georgian soul. Just like these armies of Persian shahs were taking Georgian youth from years 1603-1604, and that is why they later had changed identity… This is this liberast thinking, which preaches destruction of the nation, otherwise we won’t be conquered with swords and tanks and atomic bomb."

Obiektivi, Night Studio, 1 November

Gia Areshidze, anchor: "We have no right today to say that Turkey is our enemy. But a large portion of Turkish political elite, which has ideas of Pan-Turkism, is our enemy. Today it is not part of official policy, but since there are such ideas, and the President and Prime-Minister also have them, this may very easily turn it into our enemy, since this will become policy."

Religious discrimination

Obiektivi, Night Studio, 26 November

Nino Ratishvili, anchor: „Do you remember when sectants were jumping into our homes, I remember that I was sick once, I felt very bad, so Jehovah’s Witnesses came to me and told us that perhaps we needed expensive drugs… this is terrible.”, 2 November

„Whatever nice initiatives the real Roman Pope has (like, against euthanasia and abortion), he is trying to strengthen the anti-dogmas in Catholicism. First of all, this is tolerance to the sodomites. In 2013 Pope Francis said the following: “If a person is gay, has good will and strives towards God, who am I to criticize him?”

Alia, 14-21 November

Melkisedek Dekanoidze, bishop: „All over Rustaveli Avenue, at all subway stations, there are Jehovah’s Witnesses distributing religious literature... It seems like nothing alarming, but tomorrow the Pentecostals will do the same, next day Monophisites, then mullahs, so what will it be in the end?! There should be no precedent for them going to the street and reach every person in this way...“

Rustavi 2, P.S, 20 November

Archil Kituashvili, archpriest: „In the Anglican and Catholic Churches they found not even a trace of spirituality. They have nothing, so they started to look for it. They have found satisfaction for these false feelings in Islam, so for instance in England each year thousands of Anglicans are becoming Muslims.“, 16 November

Anzor Maisuradze, Major General: "Not even one sectant could move in my day, without me knowing about it. We had our people in every sect...There were 15 ects in Georgia: Pentecostals, 7th da Adventists, etc. We knew all about all 15. The leader of each sect was our man. We would never let them flourish!"

Obiektivi, Night Studio, 9 November

Bondo Mdzinaradze, journalist: " It is very easy to fight against Bokeria, Khidasheli, Berdzenishvili brothers, because they are obvious, they wave these flags and they are not embarrassed to hold LGBT flags."

Rustavi 2, P.S , 6 November

Tea Adeishvili, journalist: "Alcoholic, sodomite, zoophile Prince Giorgi [historical figure from the late 12th century].“

Marshalpress , 2 November

Marshalpress, 1 November

Gogi Topadze, Industry Will Save Georgia: "Let’s not say whether this [homosexuality] is illness or sexual desire. Everyone has a right to do whatever they want in their bedrooms, but same-sex marriage is definitely unacceptable for Georgia..."

Asaval-Dasavali, 21-27 November

Tamaz Mechiauri, Tamaz MechiauriFor United Georgia: „I don’t believe it right to recognize drug addiction, prostitution, homosexuality.“

Obiektivi, Night Studio, 13 November

Guram Palavandishvili, Democratic Movement – United Georgia: „So we want European integration, and we know what is happening abroad, sexual upbringing at schools, sodomite upbringing, and we have always feared that. ... They are introducing new class and this is what was in it – we suddenly had term gender  in the 3rd grade. All this sodomite lobby is based on lies, it does not honestly say that it is bad and ugly, it deceives.”

Kavkasia, Barieri, 3 November

Giorgi Akhvlediani, United Democratic Movement: “Marriage is the most important value, standard and norm of our way of life. And to proclaim what is unnatural [same-sex marriage] to be natural is very dangerous for our society and country… Unnatural abnormal relationship."

Asaval-Dasavali, 21-27 November

Elizbar Diakonidze, bishop: „ In Georgia, where Orthodox Christianity is the main religion, homosexuality and other perversions should be punishable“

Obiektivi, Night Studio, 3 November

Zaza Khatiashvili, The Advocates’ Association: „If someone wants to live with a man, let them, but this should not be called marriage and they should not have a right to adopt children. A child should not watch that, so that he doesn’t become like them. ... This should not be a lifestyle and a norm of life, and their marriage should not be allowed by the law.", 17 November

Elizbar Janelidze, People’s Assembly: „I cannot accept sodomites. Immorality flourishes. The people should raise their voice, otherwise we cannot eliminate this. We follow American example, so let us follow their example in thus case too. The people there made the right choice.“

Obiektivi, Night Studio, 9 November

Rezo Amashukeli, poet: "This is the committee [of human rights], where are gathered LGBT, pederasts and feminists who look like hoopoes."

Anti-Western sentiments

Asaval-Dasavali, 7-13 November

Giorgi Gigauri, journalist: „This Halloween is a national holiday in America, even the President and his family celebrate it in the White House, that’s why almost every second week children kill other children and teachers at schools like flies!"

Obiektivi, Night Studio, 14 November

Nino Ratishvili, journalist: "Let’s talk about American liberalism, which is expressed by Biden being able to let people of the same sex marry in the White House. Let’s talk about this kind of liberalism. It won’t be awkward, what about it, after all it is the yesterday of America.", 17 November

“In Canada they chose a pederast to be a bishop – Canadian Anglican Church chose open homosexual to be a bishop for the first time in history. 45-year old Kennon Robertson, who is raising two kids with his so called partner Mohan, has been set to lead Toronto see.“

Asaval-Dasavali, 7-13 November

Jondi Bagaturia, Georgian Group: "I say this openly: America needs Georgian-Russian conflict! America is causing tensions on purpose, for its own benefit! The August War is enough proof of this! So, while America is our partner, we’ll never take Abkhazia back! Moreover, if it goes on like this, America will turn us into Syria!.. If the Georgian government had self-respect, it would act in accordance with the national interests, not directives from the American Ambassador, and they would have has wide dialogue with Russia for a long time!"

All this sodomite lobby is based on lies, it does not honestly say that it is bad and ugly, it deceives.”, 29 November

David Nozadze, archpriest: „Americans and Europeans are waking up, and now we should plunge in this filth?! In the Italian Parliament men kissed other men’s lips, and women kissed women. Now you can see they have earthquakes there every day. Now some will say those are tectonic events, but that’s not right. God willed so and the earth moved, God willed so and thunderstorm came, God willed and hail came, God willed and Sodom and Gomorra burned...“

Rustavi 2, P.S, 20 November

Alexander Dugin, leader of International Eurasian Movement: „The further Georgia gets from Russia and closer to the West, the more it loses itself. The West is using Georgia for its purposes. In the critical momnt it will abandon Georgia, like in 2008. But Russia will stay, it is always there, it is deeply in Georgia, and this is fate. If Georgia is with Christ and Mary, it cannot be with the West, which fights against Christianity, with immoral EU, and with the NATO occupiers.“

Alia, 22-27 November

Avtandil Ungiadze, "Orthodox Parents Union": I remember when on 17 May Rasmussen made a statement and said that if we wanted NATO we had to have these parades and same-sex marriage. But one thing is what they tell our Church in official conversations, and another is what recommendations they give our government.“

Alia, 22-27 November

Avtandil Ungiadze, Orthodox Parents Union: „They introduced books to schools, recommended by EU, which are about homosexuality... It is unfortunate that things that happen in Europe voluntarily, here are being forced.“

Gender, 23 November

Bakur Svanidze, journalist: „On the Russian propaganda they mostly let talk feminist-stupid-type women with many certificates (you must have noticed that they are not talking on their own initiative). I cannot say why this is so – whether because impudent woman is a hundred times more impudent than impudent man, and can talk foolishness much more boldly, or because women of this type are very career-oriented and are capable of doing any shameful thing for the sake of their careers, expressing these shameful views...“

Obiektivi, Night Studio, 13 November

Guram Palavandishvili, Democratic Movement – United Georgia: “What is gender? People think that gender means woman and man, but in truth this gender notion has been introduced because besides woman and man there are 50 more types. If in the third grade they use the term gender, they have to explain what it is. How can they explain, should teachers invite LGBT people to the classroom and explain that this is gender and teach tolerance?“
