We are in tough and uncharted territory in our country's history as we battle a pandemic and all the consequences of its unforeseen aftermath. Further we have also come to a pivotal moment where the effects of racial injustice has been brought front and center. It is clear by the abundance of voices, of all races, that enough is enough as they protested against the fear and inhumanity. The Piedmont Regional Association of REALTORS® and our members have consistently lived by our Code of Ethics which includes strong language concerning Fair Housing, fair treatment and equality. We are searching for a way to move forward and determine our next steps towards racial inclusion and economic equality. Together we must find a way. A way where all individuals of this great nation of ours feel safe, seen and heard across our country. PRAR members, of which includes those of all races; nationalities; ages; lifestyles and beliefs, is committed to leading the way on policies that address racial injustice and wish to help build safe and inclusive communities. That is our charge!

Will Surging Online Home Searches Jumpstart Sales?

Real estate sites are reporting a jump in online home searches. Comparing March 20 (as the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic struck the U.S.) to May 9 (the most active day of the year for home searches so far), Point2Homes says visits to its real estate marketplace have surged 125%. The online real estate portal also says site visits are now up 55% year over year.

Google Trends data also shows that the search phrases “houses for sale,” “cheap homes for sale,” and “house with garden” have been rising since April. View data broken out by markets where Google searches for “homes for sale” are seeing the strongest rebound.

Where PPP Loan Forgiveness Stands Now

(Update:  The U.S. Senate, on the evening of June 3, passed a bill that would give greater flexibility to business owners who have received Paycheck Protection Program loans. The bill, which passed the House last week, would extend to 24 weeks the period of time in which borrowers must use the money to qualify for loan forgiveness. It would also reduce to 60% the percentage of funds that must be used for payroll. President Trump is expected to sign the bill.)

As many Paycheck Protection Program borrowers approach the end of their loan terms, confusion persists about the eligibility requirements for loan forgiveness.
