Please excuse our September SNOOZE

Thank you for bearing with us. It has been a strange old September for us, one like no other. We had a few maintenance issues crop up and we wanted to get it right. Its taken a few weeks to get the cafe sorted, delighted to say we are back on track!

Now open every day from 10am until 3pm serving with a smile.

Triple whammy...

Thanks to these three trades for sorting our cafe maintenance issues so efficiently. So pleased to be supporting local businesses. Community effort!

Smashing review!

Ashlee Mellett took the time to post her thoughts on Hardie Park recently. Community feedback really does help us to improve, it gives our amazing team a pat on the back, and generally makes everything worthwhile. If you missed her post on social media, here it is again...

'The majority of my childhood days were spent wandering down the dip, through the subway and to ‘Hardie’ with all the other kids from my street. Endless fun in the park & playing run outs in the woods.…. Now as a mum, I bring my own son to this same park!!We are lucky to have such a lovely park in our little town.'

We are growing our Trustee Team

We are looking to grow our Trustee team, and as such would like to bring up to 4 new Trustees on Board to help us in our work to ensure that Hardie Park is able to continue making a difference to the people of Stanford-le-Hope, and beyond.

We meet monthly – in the evening of the first Monday of each month. Historically our meetings have been held at our community space in Hardie Park (Stanford-le-Hope, Essex), however, we are able to accommodate virtual attendance for anyone based further afield. Beyond our monthly meetings, we would expect ad-hoc involvement in matters relating to the charity’s governance, meetings with partners etc. Beyond that, trustees will be encouraged (although this is not essential) to volunteer time with the charity to learn more about the organisation, systems/processes, to meet park users, understand fully the impact of our work etc

We are looking for people who understand the power of community organisations such as ours, and who are passionate about improving our work. While we do have a need on the Board for a trustee with skills and knowledge of HR, we would welcome applications from anyone who feels that they can contribute their skills, and their time to our work. We are looking for people with a commitment to diversity and inclusion, who are team players, and most importantly, people who are passionate about the work of our charity.

This is a voluntary role although all reasonable expenses properly incurred will be reimbursed.

We are considering applications on a rolling basis.

To apply

Please send a CV and a short supporting statement (maximum of one side of A4) outlining your interest in our work and this opportunity. For a confidential discussion, please contact Matt Adams, our Chair, on trustees@friendsofhardiepark.co.uk

Funds donated for accessible seating

Rotary East Thurrock Club had their Presentation Evening last month. They have supported 9 great causes in the community including us at Hardie Park this year. A big thank you to them for recognising and supporting groups like ours. Their generous donations help make things happen!
