Most of the barriers are in place! We are thankful to the Town of Manchester's Planning & Development department and Public Works for their support. Outdoor dining not only supports our restaurants but creates a beautiful and vibrant atmosphere downtown. As they say, activity breeds activity!
These "parklet" dining areas, along with the existing Sidewalk Cafes, help to create a sense of community downtown.
This summer we will once again be expanding this sense of outdoor community with the use of Purnell Place. Tomorrow marks the first weekend of our Purnell Place closing. Each Friday, Purnell Place will be closed to car traffic. This will create a walkable gathering area in the center of downtown. These barriers will be removed on Monday to allow for some through traffic.
All of our businesses can benefit from the increased foot traffic. Now is a good time to spruce up your storefront windows! Be sure they are clean and attractive and clearly market your services.
Additionally, Joy will be using the District's social media accounts to bring visibility to side street businesses, such as those on Purnell Place, throughout the summer.
Go for a stroll, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy our beautiful downtown!
