I'm Not a Baker

Hello

You are in for a surprise today. A good surprise, at least I hope so.

Instead of Arushi, this Sunday Letter is brought to you by Chaman, the other half of Dohful Cookies. And I have never written a newsletter before so please excuse me if I make any mistakes.

Arushi has been writing to you for the past 14 weeks or so and I thought maybe I should also give it a try. The last time I wrote anything for Dohful was 'What Happens when you place an Order on Dohful' and I remember it took me the better part of the day to write.

So I'm just hoping that this Sunday Letter gets to you on Sunday this time and not on Monday!

Anyway coming back, anyone who knows me, knows that I didn't have much of a sweet tooth growing up. And I especially had no idea about the world of western desserts except for an occasional ice-cream.

This changed slightly as I changed cities to go study and then landed in Mumbai for my first job. My team in TCS had a tradition of celebrating all birthdays with a lot of pomp and show, so over there I was introduced to new varieties of cakes very regularly.

And Of course, I hogged my share of the Choco Lava Cake too back then, but being a street food kind of a person I mostly spent time with Pani Puri, Vada Pavs, and Sandwiches.

It was when I met Arushi In IMT Ghaziabad I realized someone could be as passionate about Cheesecake as I was about Pani Puri. She had baked before and knew a great deal about it. And having a personal guide to the world of exotic desserts was unprecedented for me.

Soon, I started to understand the difference between a Mousse and Tiramisu, and between a Cheesecake and a Cake. Between Brownie & Tea Cakes. And much more.

It is true that you can only connect the dots in the past. And all the dots between me and baked goods connected the day we started Dohful.

Both Arushi & I had our first genuine cookie while vacationing in Europe. I can surely say that even she had not had cookies like those before. How could she, this experience was not available in India at all.

In fact, it was so new, that my first thought as a food entrepreneur why don't we start this in India but the second thought was we won't be able to make something like this. It seemed like something totally out of our league. Today after 10,000 orders, I'm glad I didn't get stuck on my second thought forever.

To tell you the truth, I didn't believe it could be done till the day she finally cracked it and gave me the cookie I had had on the streets of Rome. It took her 70 days to get there. She took her own time researching recipes, making processes, and finally training everyone in the kitchen.

Together we grew our team of 2 to a team of 12 people currently in which 7 people are working in the Dohful kitchen, making and packaging and dispatching your cookies every single day.

The reason I chose to take this undertaking today is because I have never come out and said Thank you to all of you for being a part of our Dohful journey. For believing in me and Arushi that we would give you the best, genuine cookies.

So Thank you  , and I hope we continue to delight you with our delicious cookies.

P.S.: If you don't know, we are giving a 15% Off when you order 2 boxes of cookies or more. Use coupon code TreatYourself.
