“I work full time at Arnos Vale Cemetery in Bristol and I’m passionate about creating beautiful spaces that we can enjoy in all chapters of our life. Some of you may have heard of the “Save Arnos Vale'' campaign in the 1990s? When a group of concerned locals found out that the private owner of the cemetery was going to commercially develop a large section of the site, they stepped in. Thankfully they successfully campaigned to secure the cemetery, supported by Bristol council, local citizens, and many people worldwide. Without volunteers, it wouldn’t be the thriving community space that it is today. It’s this story, plus my love of outdoor swimming that inspired me to become a trustee of the Pools.
I pride myself on setting new challenges; I’ve completed a London to Paris bike ride for the British Heart Foundation and I’m currently in training for the Yorkshire Three Peaks. In 2018 my teenage kids and I rescued a dog from a charity in Greece - we even gave her a disco theme tune (feel free to ask me what it is when we meet). We love exploring, especially if there’s a swim for all of us at the end!"
