At TMU, although it is remote, the IAMLAB team is filled with so many cool people working on more computer vision-related projects, so it feels like home 😅.
There are many things I've realized and internalized thus far in these internships, with the main one being how to exceed expectations and be self-disciplined. There are not many expectations for me to do a certain amount of work or a timeline to follow; because of this, I need to set my own expectations and then exceed them.
Nobody is forcing me to work at a certain time or telling me what I should be doing. It's up to me to decide how I want to spend my time, which is where self-discipline is crucial. I set weekly goals (that are outcomes, not outputs) and work towards exceeding them while realizing that the objective should be broad to allow room to pivot. To be completely honest, my projects have been going slower than expected, but I've been meeting my intention of learning as much as I can in the space - that's enough for me to say that, this month, I did the best I could.
