Lyrics from the popular gospel song, “Just Come”, melodiously assure us, “There's nothing better than knowing Jesus, He will pick you up and turn your life around. Just get to know Him!” Last month we examined attributes of God. This month, let’s get to know Jesus.
The whole book of John is an incredible resource in getting to know Jesus. He tells us He is one with the Father so all we learn about Jesus we learn about the Father. John 10:30 says, “I and my Father are one”. And John 13:20 teaches “He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
1 John 10:11 also teaches us that Jesus is our protector and shepherd. It reads, “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep.”
Some of the Psalms are also beautiful in knowing Jesus as our shepherd and Savior.
Psalm 22:31 says, They shall come and proclaim his righteousness to a people yet unborn, that he has done it.
And Psalm 103:2 states…”Bless The Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases…
And of course the 23rd Psalm reminds us, The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
The Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John are also key places to get to know Jesus. Here, we encounter eyewitness accounts of the teachings, character, personality, deeds, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
The Bible teaches us of Jesus’s parables, miracles, and most importantly His life. He is a perfect example for us. Through the Bible, we can come to know and love Jesus.
To God Be The Glory…It is all about Jesus and fully investing in a relationship with Him. May we continue to increase our understanding of who He is and what He has done for all humanity. Our Lord and Savior is the greatest man to ever walk the earth! If we just talk to Him and ask Him to give us a deeper understanding, He will meet us right where we are — another quality that is what is so great about Jesus!!!
