Dear TAs and RAs,
Unit 1 (TAs and RAs) had our first day of bargaining on September 24.
Our bargaining team presented a full opening package to the employer’s bargaining team, focused on key member concerns: the high cost of living and heavy workloads.
Our opening package includes wage increases, TA-to-student ratios and improved benefits. It received overwhelming support when presented to members at our latest caucus.
Carleton’s bargaining team proposed major concessions to the articles that cover our emergency fund, hours of work, sick leave and appointments. Their proposals would:
The employer’s bargaining team did not present their proposals on wages and benefits.
Our team will bring counter proposals to the next bargaining session on Wednesday, October 1.
