Your Corporation Tax payment is due 9 months and 1 day after the end of your accounting period. Your accounting period is usually your financial year, but you may have 2 accounting periods in the year you set up your company.

The easiest way is by Bank transfer. PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU USE THE PAYMENT REFERENCE so that HMRC can correctly allocate your payment.

This is 17 characters, for example 1234005678A00101A. It may also be called a ‘payslip reference’.

Your accountant will have your payment reference or you can find it online if you have a Government Gateway Organisation account. You can also find this on any payslip that HMRC send to you.
