Kalispera !
Summer officially starts in Greece next week, although Mother Nature thought she'd get in early this year with a week long heatwave that is the earliest ever recorded!
Temperatures exceeded 43C/110F in many parts of the Mainland and some Aegean islands, and sadly, lives were lost and rescues were carried out. It looks to be normalising again over the coming week, but please, if it is very hot when you are visiting, do as the locals do and try to stay indoors or at the beach between noon-five. And don't go hiking!
We reached several big milestones in the past few weeks, both business and personal.
I closed my popular 1:1 trip consultations, earlier than usual, due to the birth of our first Grandchild! Our daughter delivered a healthy baby boy, Rafa, and we are all thrilled. This is also why our June trip was pushed to August.
I had many emails from disappointed people wanting consultations, so I have reopened them again for just 3 hours per week for 6 weeks. They are almost booked out, so if this is something you would like to do, be quick!
The Facebook Group hit 100,000 members, and we gave away some great prizes to celebrate. It's been a wonderful experience to create and moderate this generous and helpful community, and I greatly appreciate all the support in doing so over the past 4 years.
The website also reached a new traffic record with several new articles added in the past few months, including a couple of brief but factual ones answering questions that come up all the time, like:
In Greece the ferry schedules are finally all published and a new Helicopter service looks promising. They may finally get the seaplanes off the ground too.
Hotel bookings are very heavy, as are many activities, especially boat trips and food tours.
I've added a new page on the website about our trusted partners, so you can easily find them, but book early to avoid disappointment.
Until next time,
Sandy
As always, don't forget the great planning resources on the website, including;
