Urban Farm Internship
Summer 2019

Description
: The Urban Farm Intern will assist in the day to day work required during the growing season on an urban farm built on formerly vacant lots in downtown Binghamton. Responsibilities include general garden and orchard care, working with community members and community partner organizations, and working with other VINES staff to ensure a successful growing season. The intern will learn how to do more complicated farm tasks such as soil fertility management, crop planning, and a diversity of other agricultural techniques. To apply email cover letter and resume to Kyle Rittenburg, Farm Manager, at kyle@vinesgardens.org by March 15th at noon.

 

Farm Share Food Systems Internship
Summer and/or Fall 2019

Description: This internship focuses on Farm Share, a VINES program that connects residents of all income levels to fresh produce from local farmers. It involves direct service in the community addressing food justice, agriculture, and community engagement. Main responsibilities include interacting with community members to distribute local produce at the same time and place each week, providing support and education to participants, processing payment including EBT (food stamp) transactions, and tracking customers. Other duties include creating recipes, recruiting members, and helping organize events. Candidate should have strong written and oral communications skills, interest in nutrition/health and wellness and be an organized, detail-oriented individual capable of working independently. Intern must be available Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Must also have reliable transportation, the ability to lift 50lbs, and some experience with cooking. Preference will be given to applicants who can intern in both the summer and fall.
