April 2021

Pop-in * Pop-up * Take-out

Benches and Brunch

The takeout hatch on the decking has been busy, thank you for your support. The new benches have proved a success too. In the first instance we have provided the seating for our customers between 12-3. Outside of these times or when the takeout is quiet the community are welcome to use.

A range of Italian speciality takeout coffees are still available. Latte, cappuccino, americano, mocha, espresso, macchiato with syrups – your shout, just give us the nod. One of our Hardie team will happily create your perfect brew. Why not add a hot snack to the order and stay a while longer.

Talking all things bike

Hardie Cycle Hub attended Woodside Academy in Grays this month as part of sustrans BIG PEDAL 2021.  Ross our cycle technician checked over pupil’s bikes and gave some sound advice to the young cyclists at the school. We received really positive feedback so much so that they want Ross back!

Sustrans Big Pedal is the UK’s largest inter-school cycling, walking, wheeling and scooting challenge that inspires pupils, staff and parents to be amazing and take active journeys to school. You can read more about the initiative here >> https://bigpedal.org.uk

Matt Hill, Manager at the Cycle Hub said, ‘It’s great that we were in a position to support the BIG PEDAL 2021, Ross did a great job sharing his knowledge and interacting with the children. The use of bikes is something we should talk more about, we jumped at the chance to get involved and inspire some of our younger generation.’

The Local Little Sunshine Awards

Congratulations to three special young community superstars whose efforts have been recognised by Morrison’s in Corringham. The high street supermarket went out to the community asking for worthy nominees earlier this month.

One of the winners Lily-May has been working hard at Hardie Park volunteering her time in the pop-up shop and Hardie's takeout service. She has also been recognised for the help she gave her mum whilst recovering from covid.

Two further local children, Faith and Stanley were also praised for making good things happen. Sam Ralph, of Morrisons Supermarket in Corringham said on social media, ‘A huge well done to all 3 of these deserving children who have given up their own time (and pocket money!) to bring out their creativity and caring towards others. It's so heart-warming to have seen.’

Community food pop-up

The pop-up service in the cafe is continuing to provide surplus supermarket food daily to the community. Saving food from landfill and helping local families at the same time, not forgetting the many chickens and piggies who also benefit from surplus 'surplus' bread and veg at the end of the day.

We are still working with local primary schools to support families who may be struggling. Please get in touch, message, call, pop-in if you are in need of support. We will always try to help where we can.

OPEN 12-3 daily

We LOVE your LOYALTY

Please, please ask at the hatch for a Hardie Park Cafe loyalty card with your coffee if you are not already collecting our stamps. The offer is still available with takeout hot drinks.

Buy 9 and get your 10th hot drink FREE. You need to be in it to win it!

The sign speaks for itself...

A bright idea in lockdown, some creative minds, quite a few whatsapp messages, painting, varnishing and volunteer time!

LOOK WHAT WE DID! – We love it…

Hardie Cycle Hub opening times:
