This week was hard.
I've been building six habits in January. The image is from my Habit Tracker. The numbers indicate the "streak" - number of successful days in a row.
I'm guessing many of you are struggling with your new habits too.
Research conducted by Strava using over 800 million user-logged activities in 2019 predicts the day most people are likely to give up on their New Year's Resolution is January 19. (Strava calls it "Quitter's Day.")
To get back on track I revisited my notes from the 12 best books on habits.
It reminded me of four things central to habit formation. Habits need to be:
- Easy
- Obvious
- Attractive
- Rewarding
Reflecting on these I reviewed my habits. The most successful ones met this criteria.
To make flossing easier I've bought some right angle flossers. To make dry January easier I've drunk alcohol free beer,
