NEW SEASON OF ARTS IN KALPA

Every sunrise, every time Brahma opens His eyes, a new world unveils; when He closes them, this world ceases to exist. In Hinduism's cosmology, the word kalpa refers to the legend of the God of Creation Brahma and indicates a dimension of time, covering a complete cosmic cycle from the origin to the destruction of a universe. The tripartite concept of creation, constant change and rebirth is at the core of the philosophy of our gallery KALPA as well, and for us it represents the time of the artist’s creation, of the journey that an artwork undergoes from its inception on the gallery to be exhibited and then eventually into the homes of our clients.

Our contemporary cycle begins with exciting and unique collaborations with various international artists, generating numerous new meditative and intense wall and sculptural pieces to enrich our collection, new gallery spaces in which to exhibit them, new art dialogues leading to new exhibitions.

The sun is rising high above our Etruscan Volterra set in the midst of the Tuscan countryside, and we take delight in the summer breeze announcing the new season of events, lively atmosphere and visitors. This is our sunrise, a novel and unique cycle has started at KALPA, full of the simple, infinite and intangible magic that surrounds us.

RENOVATION OF PALAZZO BONOMINI

NEW SOPHISTICATED SPACES TO DISCOVER

Expanded and renovated with love, the new interiors of KALPA are emerging. We are immersed in our favourite process of the creation of art living in our environment of arts: uncovering ancient walls, working with artisans, using natural materials and local stone, melding function and beauty, modernity and history.

After an overall three-year restoration work, in a few weeks KALPA will open to the public its enlarged gallery spaces in the ancient Via Porta all’Arco, unveiling the beauty and the original atmosphere of the interiors of the main gallery in Palazzo Bonomini, as well as of the addition of a new creative studio space a few metres away, both dedicated to contemporary art exhibitions.

TIMELESS ENCOUNTERS | ETRUSCAN AND CONTEMPORARY ART

What role does ancient art still play in our contemporary imagination? How might contemporary visual culture help us to see the Etruscan heritage with new eyes? The exhibition AEVUM addresses these two questions, juxtaposing objects from the past and present from the Guarnacci Etruscan Museum permanent collection and by Akiko Hirai (Japan/UK) and Eleanor Herbosch (Belgium/UK).

The word aevum indeed indicates a state that logically lies between the eternity (timelessness) of God and the temporal experience of material beings.

Involving contemporary artists to confront our cultural memory means reflecting on the circularity of history and art history. Throughout the exhibition, the artworks are thus not arranged in any chronological order, but they rather follow the criteria of instinctiveness and materiality, on an entirely emotional journey.

AMAN NEW YORK

A UNIQUE ART CONSULTANCY PROJECT

AMAN NEW YORK hotel and residences will open to the public this summer 2022 in the iconic Crown Building on Fifth Avenue. KALPA has been contributing to this amazing project for almost two years, providing art consultancy: research, advisory and sourcing. We have been bringing to these stunning interiors a great selection of artworks from numerous artists worldwide, many of them have been strategically commissioned to create "bespoke" art pieces specifically designed for the property's key spaces.

The style and culture of AMAN are extraordinary, quite unlike anything else. We are proud to be a part of it, for the central quality of this project is a deep inspiring dialogue in which our research, our philosophy and our ideas have been richly welcomed and incorporated. AMAN is a unique experience both for those who create it and for those who live it.
