Dear Parents and Friends of the School,
What a term we have all had. Our school is a microcosm of the community and in some ways it is a relief that there is a two week break, which may, or may not, allow the students, staff and parents to have a circuit breaker.
As you have read and seen in the media COVID has had a huge impact on both student and staff attendance.
We have recorded our two lowest weekly attendance over the last two weeks with students and staff.
The positive is that we have been able to continue our class programmes without splitting classes, which is still an option, asking a class or cohort to stay home, or even closing the school, which is common across Auckland currently. I would like to acknowledge the work all our relievers have done to ensure our students' learning is not as disrupted as it could have been.
To the staff, thank you for working in a disruptive environment and turning up to work each day with that smile and attitude of ‘I can do this,’ regardless of how many students I have today.
To the parents, thanks for your continued support which includes keeping your child at home if they are unwell and supplying masks for the Year 4 to 6 children.
I would like to reiterate that if you have a child not attending school please contact the office via phone or online. This makes Vesna’s job a lot easier. It takes a long time to contact 70 parents to confirm their whereabouts.
