October 2018 Update from Author Lynnette Bonner

My Life this Month...

For the past month I've been working on a super fun project that I'll hopefully be able to share with you all at the beginning of the year. (Not a new book! I promise I've been busily working on Beauty from Ashes. So all who are waiting for it, don't worry.)

I also got to teach at the Idaho Writer's League Conference which was held in Moscow, Idaho toward the end of September. I always love meeting writers and chatting and sharing about this crazy life of ours. Better still, I have family in the area and was able to get together with several of them for dinner, which was lovely. Below is a picture of me with two of my friends who were also presenters at the conference, Jan Cline and Carmen Peone.

Two drawbacks from the trip...

1. The guy at airport security STOLE my Vanilla Coke. The nerve, right? ;)

2. I realized on the day I was traveling home that I was sick. Arrived home with fevers and congestion. Fevers are gone, I'm still working on the congestion a couple weeks later. Bleh. Maybe next time I fly somewhere I'll wear one of those medical mask things and make everyone around me worry that I have some contagious disease. ;)

This Month's Freebie...

Want a free paperback?

While doing some cleaning and organizing not long ago, I found a box of paperbacks of the very first edition of Rocky Mountain Oasis. These are from when the book was published with OakTara Publishing. It has gone through quite a bit of editing since then, but the bones of the story are the same. Anyhow, I decided that it would be fun to gift them to people.

So if you would like one of these free, first-edition paperbacks, all you have to do is reply to this email with your name and the address where you would like me to ship it. Let me know if there's a specific person you want me to personalize it for (and that person can be you), and if you have a special message you'd like me to include. I'll sign it, and mail it off. (And I won't keep the addresses or info.)

I've only got 15 copies, so I likely won't be able to give them to everyone who wants one, but the first 15 people will be in luck.

From My Heart...

Wow, it's been a bit of a tumultuous few weeks recently in politics, hasn't it?

Here's something that has been on my heart. The devil wants to divide us--and by "us" I mean Christians. Period.

I understand that we need to stand up for what we believe in, and there are times where I feel it is very important to do so, even if it might cause an outlash, however I've seen some nasty behavior from both sides of the political aisle recently. And I've thought of this verse often.

No matter what segment of the political spectrum we come from, let's try to remember that we are first and foremost called to love others. And, as this verse instructs, to do our best to live at peace with everyone. I know I certainly need this reminder.
