World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly Sunday, July 23, 2023
"His mercy is from age to age" (Luke 1:50)
As we prepare to celebrate the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly on Sunday, July 23, we all have a unique role to play. We're encouraged to reach out and visit those who may be alone, sharing the Holy Father's message that is addressed for them. This gesture is a concrete embodiment of the Church's mission to serve and a powerful reminder that even the most isolated among our elderly are integral to our communities.
By giving our time and company, we offer not just comfort but also a reaffirmation of their invaluable significance in our lives. Their wisdom and life experiences form the bedrock of our communities. So, let's ensure this World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly is truly memorable, making sure no grandparent or elderly person feels alone or forgotten.
Plenary Indulgence
The Catholic Church grants a plenary indulgence to all the faithful who will be attending the Mass on July 23 with the Holy Father, or participating in a local Grandparents' Day celebration, or devoting adequate time on this same day to visiting, either in person or virtually through communications media, their elderly brothers and sisters in need or in difficulty (such as the sick, the abandoned, the disabled...).
