A new work week is upon us. And I hope you are primed to crush it.
I like to start my day listening to either a podcast or an audiobook as I go about morning tasks. It makes carrying out the usual monotonous: making my bed, fixing some breakfast, feeding Oreo (Oreo's my dog 🐶) routine much more enjoyable
Plus it gives me better content ideas that in turn benefits you.
I feel the more I consume high quality content unrelated to exercise and nutrition. The better I can create content related to exercise and nutrition.
Anyway. I was listening to a compilation of Arnold Schwarzenegger's speeches today as part of my morning audio ritual.
Arnold is one of my biggest idols. I highly recommend you check out his biography Total Recall.
The biggest takeaway for me from Arnold's life has been his relentless pursuit of realising his vision. No matter the odds. If he has set a vision for himself. He will achieve it.
And he has done it over and over. In business. In bodybuilding. In movies. In politics.
Why am I telling you about this?
One key point that struck me from today's speech compilation. Was Arnold's emphasis on having the right mentors in your life. People who you can look up to for guidance and advice.
I think this is an overlooked aspect in most people's lives.
We tend to underestimate the impact the company of great people can have on us. We spend most of our time surrounding ourselves with mediocrity.
You are the average of the 5 people you spend most time with.
And if you are like most people. You probably don't have 5 people in your life right now who you aspire to be like. Maybe you have 1 or 2 at most if you are lucky.
So it is your responsibility to seek out the remaining through books, podcasts and social media.
If you have a vision for yourself that you'd like to realise. You need to surround yourself with the people who will help you realise this vision.
If you have a weight loss goal. You should surround yourself with people who have the lifestyle and habits you wish to embody. Not people who devalue the importance of a healthy and attractive body.
When you do that. The process of getting there becomes much easier.
Things look much more achievable.
And it becomes even more likely that you will be successful in your endeavours.
So find these people. Read their books. Listen to their podcasts and speeches. If possible develop lasting relationships.
Have a great week ahead.
