It's our tradition here at Highlands to have a kid-centered worship every time there's a 5th Sunday in the month. On this Sunday in June, we will be talking about what baptism means for our lives. And then we'll be remembering and celebrating baptism by playing with water after worship outside on the church lawn. 

Lunch will be provided for everyone! There will be grilled hot dogs, either veggie dogs or burgers, chips, and drinks. 

We'll have a slip n' slide and a water game for younger kids too. 

What to bring: Sunscreen, bathing suit or water-friendly clothes (you can wear these for worship). Spare change for our "Noisy Offering" - during the offering part of worship, the kids will walk around the sanctuary with big tin cans so that it'll make plenty of noise when you put in your change.

Where: 3275 Dudley St, Wheat Ridge

Who:  All are welcome!  Bring your whole family, bring significant others, bring friends!  Our pups are rather particular about sharing their yard, so please keep your four-legged friends at home.

Food:  We’ll provide all the meats; you’ll bring a side dish, snack or dessert to share.  Don’t worry about fancy plating, we’ll have servers transfer food into serving pans/platters and give your dishes back to you.

Beverages:  We’ll provide some sodas, water, frosty beverages and an open bar (consider tipping the bartender).  If you want anything in particular, please bring it.

KA-POW!:  If we get a few more rainy weeks, we’ll blow stuff up!

4 A.G.:  We’ll commemorate the 4^th anniversary of Gunnar’s passing with the retiring of last year’s flag, and the raising of a new one (as well as a shot o’ whiskey).  Decals and stickers will also be available for everyone.

The Blessing Tree:  Last year we started a tradition of hanging “blessings” and “remembrances” on one of the trees in our yard (similar to the Irish Fairy Tree traditions).  Feel free to bring a trinket/ribbon/something to hang in the tree.

While an RSVP isn’t entirely necessary (heck, an invitation is hardly necessary anymore!), it’ll help us make sure you are stuffed to the gills when you roll home.  Email carrieo888@hotmail.com or cholgeirson@gmail.com to let us know how many to expect.

It’s the time of the year when non-profits send out calendars for next year. When you have extras, don’t forget the New Beginnings Prison Ministry, an ELCA congregation at the Denver Women’s Correctional Facility. That community needs our calendars and new greeting cards (with envelopes). Place them in the box on the table in the Narthex.

So Far, We've Raised $4,568! The walls will be up for only ONE more Sunday before we take them down until Fall. This includes $3,000 to purchase, move, and tune our new gorgeous used baby grand piano. And $155 given to cover any of these projects. Thanks to everyone who has given so far!

We are still looking to raise the following:

+New Sanctuary Sound System: $14,039 ($961 raised so far)

+Renovation of Northwest Basement Bathroom: $3,722 ($313 raised so far)

+Renovation of Northeast Basement Bathroom: $2,636 ($139 raised so far)

What's all this about?
Our "Walls of Giving" in the narthex have lots and lots of envelopes (bricks - designed by the Sunday School kids), each with a different amount of money on them and a sticker indicating which project the money will go towards.

This year, for "Above & Beyond" (giving that's in addition to any regular pledging to Highlands you may do) we're focusing on a couple projects that will help keep our facilities in good shape. 

Giving is simple - Just pick a project that you'd like to give to, and take an envelope from the wall with that project's sticker. Fill the envelope with a check (write the project name on your check) or cash in the amount listed on the front. Put the envelope in an offering plate or the bin by the walls. And repeat as often as you're able!
