Variety: Florida State classmates helped make Barry Jenkins’ ‘Moonlight’ shine

The acclaimed film, “Moonlight,” from Florida State University graduate Barry Jenkins and his crew of FSU Film School alumni, has been nominated for eight Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Alumna Joi McMillon became the first African-American woman nominated for an Oscar in film editing.

ACC Distinguished Lecturer Series

The ACC Distinguished Lecturer series presents Rory Cooper, FISA & Paralyzed Veterans of America Chair and Distinguished Professor of the Department of Rehabilitation Science & Technology, and professor of Bioengineering, Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, and Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh, for a lecture at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 1, at the College of Medicine Durell Peaden Auditorium. The event is free and open to the public. A breakfast reception will precede the lecture at 9 a.m.
