Whilst we have had a bit more time and running out of indoor maintenance jobs, the TV has given us a look at our wonderful area on screen. You may be aware of some of these programmes that feature in Dramas or Documentaries in recent months. Here are some links in case you haven't seen them yet.
The new series of Yorkshire Dales and the Lakes was a seasonal one and follows the fortunes of farmers and local's throughout the year. Cracoe is the closest village featured.
All Creatures Great and Small - the remake of this Yorkshire Classic based on the books featuring vet James Herriot. Arncliffe Village is used in location for a few scenes, we spotted many places we know and cycle past them from here.
BBC's Winter Walks - there has been one near Ketterwell (Baroness Sayeeda Warsi) but recent filming during lockdown was Alistair Campbell walking out of Settle towards Lancliffe so one to look out for!
Joanna Lumley past through last year on the Staycation Express featuring the Settle to Carlisle Railway - around 25mins into the programme is our station in Settle. She was filmed as she boarded the train to arrive in Appleby. Those in the know will see that you don't alight there to step foot on Lake Windermere...but that's how the programme was edited! Home Sweet Home Travels in my Own
Taking of Railways! World's Most Scenic Railway series the second half of the programme was the journey from Carlisle back to Preston via Settle on the Steam Train Princess Elizabeth. Really enjoyed this one, plenty of local knowledge and history of the Ribblehead Viaduct only 12miles away, and of course some spectacular scenery en route and drone footage of the fields outside Settle
The Printed press featured in the Yorkshire Post wrote a piece on Tripadvisor's Top Attraction in a new category of "National Parks" the Yorkshire Dales is 11th in the World!.
