Dear Roger,
The United Nations released its latest climate report earlier this week and, I’ll be blunt, the news wasn’t good.
Scientists are seeing changes in every region and across the entire system. Many of the changes “are unprecedented in thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of years.”
But here’s the good(ish) part: Even this report, which is written to inform governments on the facts laid bare regarding the climate crisis, contains some hope.
That’s right! Yes, the climate crisis is bad and getting worse. But we still have time to create a better future for our children and grandchildren, although we need to act now.
“Strong and sustained reductions in emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases would limit climate change.”
Act today: Sign the “Healthy Planet, Healthy People” petition and tell world leaders how to protect our common home.
Once you sign the petition, you’re invited to promote it throughout the upcoming Season of Creation and become a true champion for our common home.
The Season of Creation is a unique moment for all of us to take prophetic action ahead of the 26th UN Climate Change Conference in November.
Ahead of that vital UN summit, it’s our job to rise up in unity and support audacious targets to save our common home. Sign the “Healthy Planet, Healthy People” petition and join the thousands of people who have already taken action for God’s creation.
The news isn’t good, let’s be clear. But we can come together and act out our values. Let’s do it now.
