"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen."

As we celebrate our Parent Body Missionary anniversary this morning and our church theme, “A Year of Growth”, we look at some biblical missionaries who grew spiritually on the battlefield for the Lord!
Paul the Apostle: A Trailblazer in Spreading the Gospel
Paul underwent a profound transformation after encountering Jesus. He embarked on numerous missionary journeys, tirelessly spreading the teachings of Jesus Christ across the Mediterranean region. His unwavering dedication and passion for sharing the Gospel led to the establishment of several churches and communities, shaping the early Christian movement.
Barnabas: A Companion in Missionary Ventures
Barnabas, a devoted follower of Christ, played a vital role in supporting and accompanying Paul on his missionary journeys. His name means “son of encouragement,” and his encouragement and support bolstered the early Christian missions.
Peter: Proclaimer of the Gospel
Peter, one of Jesus’ closest disciples, was instrumental in the early spread of Christianity. He fearlessly preached the Gospel, emphasizing repentance and forgiveness through Jesus Christ. Despite facing persecution and challenges, Peter’s unwavering faith and commitment to sharing the message of salvation impacted numerous lives, laying the foundation for the growth of the Christian faith.
Esther: A Courageous Missionary in Her Own Right
Much like a missionary, Esther demonstrated bravery by risking her life to approach the king without an invitation—an act that was not only daring but also pivotal in advocating for her people’s salvation. Her willingness to step into the unknown, confront adversity, and champion the cause of her community echoes the spirit of missionaries who boldly venture into unfamiliar territories to bring hope and aid to those in need.
Matthew 28:19-20 commands us to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
To God Be The Glory…for these brave individuals who traveled far and wide, driven by their strong belief in spreading a message of hope through the transformative message of God’s love and redemption.Their unwavering faith and dedication continues to inspire generations, underscoring the timeless significance of spreading the gospel to the ends of the earth!

Matthew 28:19-20 commands us to “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
This morning Historic Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church celebrated the Parent Body Missionary Society Anniversary under the leadership of Sis. Delores Spencer, President. The spirit filled service commemorated the church’s commitment of its members to missions.
Sis. Nancy Holmes was our program coordinator. Our Unison Scripture reading was led by Sis Phyllis Bates from Matthew 28:19-20. A soul stirring prayer was offered by Bro William Bland. The Mass Choir led us in song with “Pass Me Not O Gentle Savior,” “Give Glory To God Saints,” “Just Come,” and “The Lord Is Blessing Me Right Now.”
A warm and hearty welcome to visitors was shared by Sis Norma Thomas.
A touching, poignant tribute and poem were presented by Sis Sabrynn Wright and Bro Takiyah Jones during the In Memoriam. "Gone But Not Forgotten": Sis. Tonya Diane Beatty Adams, Bro. Clarence Irving Brown, Sis. Cecilia "CeCe" Johnson, Bro. Ralph Johnson, Jr., Bro. Albert James Martin, Jr., Sis. Anna Carol Harris Moore, Dr. John A. Moore, Sr., Rev. Harry E. Sykes, Sis. Juanita "Red" Stewart Warren, and Sis. Castella Washington.
The Mission and Purpose of the Parent Body Missionary Society was outlined by Dr. Alyce Emerson who reminded us, “We are ALL missionaries.”
Sis. Spencer brought greetings and expressed her thanks to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and to all who assisted with this mornings program. She lead us in scripture with “This Is The Day The Lord Has Made, Let Us Rejoice And Be Glad In It!”
A special plaque and “Citation of Appreciation” from the House of Representatives and the Commonwealth of Kentucky were presented by Sis. Spencer and Rep. George A. Brown Jr. to Bro. Walter J. Speed, Jr. for his tireless service and leadership as Chairman of the Deacons, Trustee, Superintendent of Sunday School and so much more...going above and beyond the call of duty! Bro. Speed humbly accepted the honor and reaffirmed his commitment to stay on the battlefield for the Lord.
Sis. Darrylyn Combs, Sis. Liz Brooks and Sis. Shirley Jones presented beautiful bouquets of red and pink roses on behalf of the Parent Body Missionary Society and Historic Pleasant Green Missionary Baptist Church to Sis. Spencer, (Parent Body Missionary Society President) and Sis. Nancy Holmes, (Parent Body Missionary Society Vice President).
The preached word, “Saints with Sinners' Problems” (Saints & Aint’s) was brought by Rev. Herbert T. Owens, Jr. from Romans 7:21-25. Man has two natures. Although we are Christians there is yet an internal war going on. Although we have given our life to Christ, we still battle with sin. He encouraged missionaries though to stay the course and continue to witness to others near and far.
Sis. Jenny Cotton asked the church to pray for her family during the loss of her 2 year old great nephew. Rev Owens lifted the Oxedine family up in a special prayer.
Sis. Jacqueline Maupin offered the Offertory Appeal and Sis. Carla Morton led us in the offertory prayer.
Rev. Owens distributed missionary flyers and pocket sized directory brochures to the congregation.
To God Be The Glory for our missionaries…spreading the gospel throughout the world, to the ends of the earth!

Thank You
I sincerely thank Sister Spencer and the Missionary Ministry for their expression of appreciation extended to me in the form of the crystal plaque and the Citation of Appreciation from the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. This recognition greatly humbles me. I give God the Glory for enabling me to serve in any capacity that He has allowed me to serve. I totally believe that "Only what we do for Christ will last."
Additionally, I thank my Church Family for your love and kindness that has been extended toward me over more than 50 years that I have been a member of Pleasant Green.

FLU
Flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses that infect the nose, throat, and sometimes the lungs. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.
Flu shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a flu vaccination.
RSV
Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a common, contagious virus that usually causes mild symptoms. In older adults and adults with certain underlying conditions, RSV can cause severe infections.
RSV shots are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding a RSV vaccination.
COVID-19
Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus.
Most people infected with the virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. However, some will become seriously ill and require medical attention. Older people and those with underlying medical conditions like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, or cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. Anyone can get sick with COVID-19 and become seriously ill or die at any age.
The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is to be well informed about the disease and how the virus spreads. Protect yourself and others from infection by staying at least 1 metre apart from others, wearing a properly fitted mask, and washing your hands or using an alcohol-based rub frequently. Get vaccinated when it’s your turn and follow local guidance.
The virus can spread from an infected person’s mouth or nose in small liquid particles when they cough, sneeze, speak, sing or breathe. These particles range from larger respiratory droplets to smaller aerosols. It is important to practice respiratory etiquette, for example by coughing into a flexed elbow, and to stay home and self-isolate until you recover if you feel unwell.
Both COVID vaccines and Booster COVID vaccines are available at local pharmacies. Consult your physician regarding COVID vaccinations.
