The Sacraments of Initiation celebrate special milestones in life leading to greater participation in the life of the Church in the world. These celebrations are often closely associated with the act of sharing a meal that flows from the church gathering. Celebrations, such as Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation, represent significant moments of spiritual transformation and renewal for individuals and the community. By gathering together to share a meal, the community is able to further strengthen their bonds of fellowship and support, and to reflect on the spiritual significance of the Sacrament. The family is such a community.
Read this article and discover cookbooks to help you plan these meals in the context of the Sacraments. Remember however that these acts of eating together should not be limited to key celebrations of Sacraments only. It would be beneficial for family life that every Sunday Mass should always be followed by a meal prepared lovingly, even perhaps prepared together as a family.

Consider this...
“When they had gone ashore, they saw a charcoal fire there, with fish on it, and bread. Jesus said to them, ‘Bring some of the fish that you have just caught.’ So Simon Peter went aboard and hauled the net ashore, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three of them; and though there were so many, the net was not torn. Jesus said to them, ‘Come and have breakfast.’ Now none of the disciples dared to ask him, ‘Who are you?’ because they knew it was the Lord. Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. This was now the third time that Jesus appeared to the disciples after he was raised from the dead.” John 21:9–14
In the context of eating together, they knew it was the Lord. May our meals and time together bring us closer to the Lord.

POPE'S PRAYER INTENTION |
+ |
|
Each year, the Holy Father asks for our prayers for a specific intention each month. You are invited to answer the Holy Father's request and to join with many people worldwide in praying for this intention each month. From time to time, the Holy Father may add a second prayer intention related to current events or urgent needs, like disaster relief. The second prayer request will help mobilize prayer and action related to the urgent situation.
