Let's End Suspensions

As we enter the 2021-2022 school year, we read another report that shows again (as reports have for years) that Black children are suspended and disciplined at higher rates than other students. If you work at a school that suspends students, I encourage you to try using conflict circles and other restorative practices. Also, I love this Ted Talk (see above) about how suspensions are an adult behavior by Dr. Rosemarie Allen.

How do you want to transform as a teacher evaluator?

Teacher evaluations are probably not the most pressing topic on our minds as we enter this school year. But as with any new year, we have a chance to make changes to our practice and ensure that our practice aligns with our values and our school goals. In this 9-minute video, I share some ideas that Leslie Gant and I have heard from evaluators over the years about how they want to transform and improve their practice.
