How did a 9 year old get this done?
We ALWAYS start with the Purpose Statement - no matter how old you are.
Welcome back - I'm assuming you did at least glance through the template? :-)
So here's how this all came about...
Last week Joey Rasdien was in the studio for a couple of days to record an exciting (but still hush-hush) show with the cool people from Room 206 (a bit more on them below).
Since it was school holidays for his children, Joey's daughter joined dad at work. As with any little person, she was curious and explored the studios asking lots of questions. And, like many people today, had already thought about starting a YouTube Channel and making a podcast (like her mom does).
So we did the "10c tour", explored all the different studios (upstairs was a bit of a mess at the time as we were adding more studios), and chatted about podcasting. When Layyah said she'd like to make a podcast, I gave her the same task I give all newbies...
Let's do the template exercise first.
And promised that if she completed the task (and an extra one before the first recording) we'd make her first podcast the same week.
So I wrote the questions on a whiteboard and left Layyah to experiment and iterate, and checked in with her a few times to ask questions, get clarity and answer her questions.
It didn't take her long to come up with her own Purpose Statement (you can see her draft in the image above) so we booked a studio and recorded her show intro. We spent a bit of time selecting music she liked (and that fitted the 'vibe') and we were ready to go for episode 1.
"Welcome to The Limelight Podcast where I talk to people from the entertainment industry about how they became successful so that you can learn from them and reach your goal."
Her next task was to identify her first guest and prepare some questions and conversation points that would meet the show's purpose. As luck would have it, well-know comedian Joey Rasdien was close at hand and agreed to be her guest.
