I have no idea what this new year will bring. Given the global challenges that took place in 2024, I wouldnāt dare make any predictions. I know all I can do personally is try to stay calm, be considerate of othersā opinions even if I donāt agree with them, take each day as it comes, and hope for the best.
I donāt really make resolutions because Iām very bad at keeping them. But I do have a couple of goals Iām bravely sharing with youāin hopes that making them public will help keep me on track.
#1: LIMIT MY TIME ON SOCIAL MEDIA Have you ever looked at the clock before opening Facebook, X, BlueSky, or your favorite social media site? I guarantee time goes wonky when you slide down the rabbit hole. Iām going to try setting an alarm before I open any social media appā15 minutes twice a day sounds doable.
#2: WALK EVERY DAY* Walking from my office to my kitchen to re-heat my cup of coffee doesnāt count. Iām talking real shoes, fresh air, and phone in my pocket to track my steps.
*I live in California. Weather is not an excuse. So donāt believe me if I try to blame the weather for missing a day.š
#3: SET UP A REASONABLE/REALISTIC WRITING SCHEDULE I used to do this when my kids were in school and I had impending deadlines. Itās amazing how much you can accomplish when the clock is ticking.
#4: EAT LESS, EXERCISE MORE Iām very hit and miss with this, but it never hurts to shoot for the moon, right?
#5: READ DAILY Iām usually pretty good about keeping this resolution. My Kindle even rewards me when Iāve read every day for a week.
