Welcome to this week’s Mersey Views.

Like every other council, we await the Government’s first budget next week, and to understand what it means for local government. Even though the signs are positive, it’s vital that we at Liverpool City Council are prudent in our financial planning assumptions, make sure we manage our spend and that every pound is accounted for. Together with boosting our city’s economic growth, which I have written about below, it will mean we can protect and improve the services that every resident of Liverpool deserves.

On a lighter note – pardon the pun – I’ve had a close-up view of the River of Light installations which will bring joy to people over the next 12 days. They truly are wonderful, so if you’re able to come down to this free event on the city’s waterfront, I’d urge you to.
