The 20th of March is marked as the World’s Day of Theater for Children and Young Audiences and AFCA Commemorated the day with celebrations days in advance! AFCA has Launched AFCA Arts Days for Children this March to celebrate the culture of children going to the theater and experiencing different art forms firsthand as it is a vital step in the cognitive development of children and upholds their rights to have access to arts experiences. The event took place at Falaki Theater in collaboration with Tahrir Cultural Center and showcased three of AFCA’s latest Productions, Gimme Please!, Chamber of Secrets, and Les fables de La Fontaine, the productions were developed with the support of the US Embassy in Cairo, The British Council in Egypt and The French Institute in Egypt- Alexandria respectively.

Ramadan is here and matching up with the start of the spring season, which means only one thing: AFCA Easter club is bound to be different this year! This April from the 24th to the 28th AFCA Easter Club will be taking place in not one but two different Locations; The first is Lycée Albert Camus - New Giza and the second is Lycée Français du Caire - Maadi. This season the club is in the French language and includes an exciting program of workshops that includes theater, shadow theater, storytelling, visual and Culinary Arts. Gear up your children to spend their spring break in a fun and different way and express themselves through art applications.

Last March we hosted the closing session of “Making theater for children on the autism spectrum” Training led by Christopher Davies, the artistic director of Bamboozle Theatre Company in the UK. The trainees got together both online and on the ground and were joined by Cathy Costain, Head of Arts Programmes at the British Council in Egypt that sponsored and supported this training, and by Mr. Davies online. The trainees shared their feedback on the training and implementing the gained knowledge during their sessions with children on the autism spectrum. As we bid goodbye to this amazing journey, we are excited to start a new one with Mr. Davies & Bamboozle in the foreseeable future.
