Circle User Meeting

This years Circle User meeting in Melbourne will follow the same pattern as previous years. It will be the day before the ABA conference on Saturday 17th June. For those that can't make it in person we hope to be able to offer a way to join online.

The format will be the same as last year. A morning session for newbies covering the main system features and an afternoon session covering new features added in the last year followed by voting of what we should focus on next year.

New website beta release

We need you to check and update your website on beta.

The website has been totally rewritten which means that you may have to adjust custom elements like graphics and custom CSS if you use it.

Talk to your designer, this could also be a good chance to refresh your site overall. The new site supports a greater range of layouts, supports mobile better, has an improved checkout process, is better optimised for search engines and overall looks better.

This video (8:45) shows you how to check your site on beta, and tells your designers where to start.

If you need a graphic designer here's a list that have experience working on Circle sites.

PLANS FOR THE COMING MONTH

Plans this month have not changed much from last month as it has taken longer than hoped to get the new features on beta tested and polished. We managed LE and B&T integrations and hope to get the following done in the next weeks.

  • New Best seller report
  • New Website
  • Agency addition
  • Further SEO and website performance monitoring

Things we are working on that are likely to take longer

  • Bootstrap 3 upgrade in the back office starting with customer order picking and returns

New things we want to make a start on

  • Rails 4 upgrade
  • Use of docker to dynamically scale the system based on demand.

How APIs could alleviate book industry supply chain pain.

This topic is on the table at every conference, I think we could move forward if we understood that supply chain issues are generally information issues.

This years Leading Edge conference was no exception and I see it on the upcoming ABA agenda as well. I stood up at the LE conference to back Chris Redfern’s call for a way to get price and availability information directly from suppliers. I talked about “APIs” as a great solution and think I left most in the room wondering – ‘what on earth is he talking about’ so let me try again…
