Vol. 11, October 2022

The month of October was packed with many adventurous trips for our study abroad students! From the mountainous heights of Greece and New Zealand to the natural beauty of Rwanda to the cityscapes of Europe, our students traveled to many amazing places this month. On top of that, during the past few weeks, we also announced some exciting new changes to both Harding in Zambia (HIZ) and Harding University in Latin America (HULA). Please keep reading below to catch up on this past month's activities and to learn more about our upcoming program changes!
HUE
Harding University in England

The HUE group has been traversing through Europe all semester and October was certainly no different. The month began with the group arriving in France where they visited Normandy and Paris. After that, students embarked on a week of independent travel that ended with them rendezvousing at the Harding villa in Florence, Italy, where they have now spent the last couple of weeks enjoying the beautiful country.
HUG
Harding University in Greece

October took the HUG students to the northern parts of Greece. There they visited Delphi, Meteora, Berea, Thessaloniki and Philippi. The trip concluded with an optional climb up Mount Olympus. Later in the month, the group went to the Athens Concert Hall to hear the Athens State Orchestra. 
HIZ
Harding in Zambia

The first half of the month saw the HIZ group conclude their time at the Namwianga Mission in Zambia. Afterward, the HIZ group visited Rwanda where they toured and helped in a local school, visited Volcanoes National Park and a local coffee cooperative. October came to a close with the HIZ group arriving at the HUG campus where they will spend some time in Greece and then accompany HUG on their tour of Egypt next month.

Harding University in Australasia

HUA kicked off October having just arrived in Auckland, New Zealand after a couple of weeks in Australia. Since arriving in New Zealand, the group has explored the Hobbit village from the Lord of the Rings films, hiked the Hooker and Kepler Tracks, taken a boat ride to see some glaciers, and visited a sheep farm. Some students and professors even managed to go skydiving in their free time.

HULA Set to Return to Easter Island in 2023

We are excited to announce that HULA will return to Easter Island beginning next semester! HULA Spring 2023 will be the first time a HULA group has been there since 2019 due to pandemic travel restrictions. If you're interested in attending HULA and visiting Easter Island, space is still available for this upcoming spring semester, so sign up today!
