Hello Friends!

Happy Friday- and, "Welcome back to "The Cre8tive Life!"- your weekly newsletter full of lifestyle tips, smiles, and cool things to check out!

This week has been a bit busy, and full of serendipitous randomness. I have spent some time with the team at BUST magazine, participated in a Samurai coaching experiment, and have hung out in a few galleries-where I got to see the work of two greats (M.C. Escher & Jean-Michel Basquiat).

*I have shared a few pictures here, but will also be posting more on my Instagram @thecre8tiveartisan

My weekly (random) compilation of some of my favorite "cre8tive" things that I want to share:

  • FAVORITE WORD: Sesquipedalian — (of a word) having many syllables or (of a piece of writing) using many long words

  • ADVICE: "Be the reason someone believes in the goodness of people.”

  • MOOD MUSIC: As a big fan of the Bee Gees' timeless classic, "How Deep Is Your Love," I must say that I absolutely love THIS COVER by PJ Morton & YEBBA. (*And, if you aren't familiar with either of these two artists, do yourself a favor, and go down the rabbit hole of their goodness on YouTube- they have amazing live performances!)

  • SMILE OF THE WEEK: As I shared above, I had the chance to visit a couple of galleries this past week. Both of them definitely brought me some much needed smiles, and "cre8tive" inspiration. I highly encourage those in the NYC area to check out the Escher NYC and Basquiat exhibitions before they close!

  • BOOK I'M READING: A couple weeks ago I received Oprah's new book, "The Path Made Clear". I am loving all of the "nuggets of wisdom" that Oprah and her friends are dropping in there!

  • RANDOM LIFE TIP: This tip is simple...but, can be quite life-changing if you were never made aware. Did you know that you can quickly de-fog your bathroom mirror with a blow dryer after a hot shower? Talk about an "A-ha!" moment!

  • THING I WANT TO TRY: This Hot Logic Portable Oven is truly fascinating to me. It seems to be consistently rated quite high among people seeking to eat healthy "on-the-go"...whether at work, flying, wanting to save a little money on eating out everyday, etc. I look forward to testing it out soon!

One of the things that I have learned about myself over the years is the fact that I don't like to deal with having difficult conversations. I tend to be a very peaceful, tranquil, "good vibes only" type of person; and, like to avoid anything that doesn't bring about that type of energy like the plague. And, in the past, I have been inclined to shut down, use silent treatment, and avoidance as my trusty pillars for things that I did not want to talk about or deal with. However, as I have grown and matured, I have learned the lessons of these tactics not being the most effective, nor contributing to "my best life" that I want to lead. Avoidance of confrontation, or sometimes even making up stories of what I perceive will happen, simply does not serve me. In fact, I have found that it seemingly results in me operating and practicing in insanity ("doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results").

So, I have been intentionally doing the work on learning to "use my voice," and creating mind shifts around what all of this means and looks like to me. And, I must say, that is has truly been very empowering. I have learned that having difficult conversations and advocating for myself does not take away from who I am, or make me out to be a horrible person. In fact, it actually enhances my authentic self because I know that my intention and aim is coming from a pure and honest place; and, that my approach is to seek a healthy dialogue and solution that creates more solid understanding. While there is truth in the fact that you can't control how others perceive you, you can control how you show up to situations, people, and the world. Shifting my mindset to this has been truly transformative for me, and has allowed me to get on a path of a more fulfilling life. And, I hope that it will do the same for you (if you find that you ever have this problem).

This week I challenge you with a question that was recently asked of me, "How do you silence yourself for the comfort of others, and why? And, how does that serve you?"

I am in the process of creating some "non-traditional" events where people can connect on a deeper level in person. And, I am still in need of a bit more feedback in my survey. If you have not done so already, please take a quick 5 minutes to fill out:

Thanks sooooooo much in advance for your time!

***Totally disregard this part of the newsletter if you have already done this.

Lastly, if you happen to have any future topic ideas, or come across any events I should know about, PLEASE feel free to send those along my way. I always LOVE discovering and learning about new things!

Have a great day, and be sure to take time to enjoy your life!
